Backstory of "Mansfield Reformatory"
Mansfield Reformatory where the movie Shawshank Redemption and Air Force One were filmed is one of the most haunted abandoned prisons in America. Reports of shadow people, disembodied voices and sounds, numerous EVPs (electronic voice phenomena), a figure of a running man with throat cut, a former prison warden's wife who was accidentally shot in the heart when a pistol fell from a cabinet, an inmate who set himself on fire, and other strange events.
Paranormal groups are welcome and inquiries should be made to: www.mrps.org to find out about group rates and overnight investigations. Simple walk through tours are also given.
The Ghost Research Society investigated the site in July of 2009 and came away with an outstanding video image of a shadow person, extreme temperature drops on the fifth tier cell block, numerous EVPs, shadow images on digital trap cameras and many unexplainable noises heard in real time of prison doors slaming.
