 Description:

The orphanage is now state property that was bought 10 yrs ago. It was suppose to be renovated into a tourist attraction when it was purchased, but it is clear that they started and never finished. About 15 years ago my friends and visited the place because of rumors of hauntings. I was a teenager so all I was looking for was a good scare. The paranormal has facinated me since I was young and lived in an active house in DeSoto Tx.
I am now part of a paranormal investigation group. Roughly 3 yrs ago I suggested we go to this location, with equipment that captures EVP, video, and temperature fluctuations in hopes to gather evidence one way or the other. The property has a cemetery about a half mile down the road from the building most of the plots date in the early 1900's and are of small children. The building was originally built in the late 1800's as a hotel during the towns booming years. Later the place was converted to a girls school and then to an orphanage. We have investigated this place numerous times. Every time we go we get something else unusual and unexplainable. The place is completely boarded up. In the front door there is a fist sized hole, once we dropped the EVP in the hole (attached to something we could pull it out with) just so we could get something from inside. Amazingly within the first 7 minutes we dropped it in we started getting voices (some that sounded like were speaking a different language), footsteps, doors creaking none of which we heard because we were outside. We also heard what sounded like rocks being thrown from the second story but could not find anything in the area nor were there trees above the structure. On one investigation we could hear something walking on the front porch and followed it with the video camera. What showed up amazed all of us. A black mass that vanished into an orb like object with a face. We could only see this on frame by frame video. We also have evp's of a little girl singing Good Ship Lollypop so clearly that if I wasn't there I would have called bs. Not many people in the area know about this place and I suppose because it was bought by the state it keeps most away. I feel this place has alot of history and should be appreciated for that reason. Not much can be found online about this place and what little I know has been from extensive research. I found a book online a few years back about a lady that grew up in the orphanage. I tried contacting her about her book and she emailed me back. On the second email I mentioned I was researching the possibility of the place being haunted and she would not return my email even to purchase one of her books.
