First off, what's it about?
· Basically this is a place where users can submit haunted, abandoned, or just plain places anywhere in the United States. But also, submit stories, comments, and photos. Hopefully users will submit photos from a variety of places for us to enjoy, as well as interesting stories about the places.


Purpose of this site
· The purpose of this site is the explore and learn about places that are off the beaten path in the United States, and documenting these places before they are demolished or totally forgotten. It is not to vandalize or otherwise harm those places. One of my favorite books by Ninjalicious, in his book Access All Areas (A users's guide to the art of urban exploration), highlight's this by using the Seirra Club's motto which is, "take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints." This is a motto that you should take to heart. This means you should not take anything from the place, vandalize, graffiti, or any of these things. Not to mention, if you are caught, doing any of these practices will create a much worse situation rather than if you were just taking photos.

· Whether you explore abandoned or haunted places because of the history, the art of photography, the pure exploration, for the hopes to see something out of the ordinary (haunted places), or the shear beauty of an abandoned place decaying, your goal should be to leave everything as it is so that others can appreciate the place just as you did when you explored it. If it is found that you are using this website for these unethical purposes, you will be banned. Do not email me for directions or information on how to enter these places, otherwise your e-mail will be ignored.

What started it?
· Basically I got into haunted and abandonded places in my area. I looked up some places around me, and I started checking them out with friends. I noticed there were plenty of places on the web to find these places, but no real place to comment and post your findings on them. So I decided to create this.


How'd you make it?
· The scripts on the site are entirely hand-coded by me in PHP (http://www.php.net). The HTML was coded using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004, and wordpad. The banner for the site is taken from a photo I took in Bracken county, on KY-8.


When was it started?
· Well, I created a website a while back entitled, "Haunted-Index.com". There was a lot of bugs, and I didn't feel like it was really working out, so I let the domain expire. Unfortunatly, I forgot that I did not have any backups of the database, so therefore, here I am starting from scratch when it comes to content. That website was started in mid-March of 2005, however, "Forgotten US" was created in late December 2006, early January 2007.
